Students of KIIT University have designed a solar car in line with the widely presumed future of the automobile industry globally. It is a completely electrical and electronic vehicle powered by solar energy.
The car, named ‘Yuva’, has solar panels overhead having a power intake of 80W each. Solar panels charge four batteries, each delivering an output of around 40 Amp Hr. “We have synchronized two BLOC hub motors with planetary gear system situated in rear wheels, each having a rating of 250W and 20AmpHr”, said a student of the designing team.

It is a home project guided by Faculty Advisor, Prof. Isham Panigrahi under mentorship of Er. Akhilesh Dewangan. The 24-member team, named YUVA, is captained by Shadab Ahmed and Abhishek Kumar Sinha respectively. The weight of the car is 65 kg, while it can move with a speed of 40 km/hr.
